Maybe you’ve sought out information on the power detoxing has to help you get healthier, loose weight, clear up your skin, and leave you looking overly amazing, amongst many other benefits, or you possibly already tracked the success of some of your besties as they’ve detoxed. If so, then you already have firsthand experience on the powerful results detoxing delivers not only on a physical level, but also on a mental and emotional one.
So why does the idea of detoxing have you quaking in your boots?
Let me guess?
You think detoxing is waaaay too much work
You have an uber busy schedule, and consider detoxing would take up too much of your precious time
You love the idea of having a healthy body, not to mention looking and feeling A-mazing, but you definitely don’t want to give up eating delicious foods (believe me, I get you!)
Busy gals (like you and me) don’t have a SECOND to waist on activities that aren’t directly linked to success and, of course, you couldn't possibly imagine detoxing could actually positively impact your overall success in life? Read on, because girls, are you in for a surprise.
In my experience, I’ve found that four major myths are to blame for smart chicas to miss out on the opportunity of experiencing first hand the benefits, as well as the positive side effects of detoxing.
I’m going to debunk those myths for ya’, and replace them with truly valuable information that will inspire you to jump on board the detox train that will head you both towards inner and outer radiance.
Myth #1: When you're Detoxing you're starved and cranky
Most hot señoritas (yes, I mean you!) think that they’ll be starved and cranky while detoxing. Not if done right. This could potentially be the case if you torture yourself with a lack regime that makes your brain associate detoxing with scarcity rather than with abundance, like those old, restrictive, and oh so boring dieting times. A truly successful detox program has the word bounty written all over it, as it includes plenty of clean & whole foods and that are oh so easy to prepare and delicious to enjoy, which your body will eventually begin to crave once it’s on detox mode.
Myth # 2: Detox’s are TOO demanding and involve too much work
True. Detox’s AREN’T simple.
But that doesn’t mean they can’t be relatively easy, and even fun, when met with the right A-Z blueprint that leaves nothing to chance.
From pairing together the most affordable/reliable tools that will set you up for a fun and enjoyable detoxing experience, to knowing exactly what to feed the body to maximize its ability to detoxify, a step-by-step blueprint can take an otherwise complex strategy and make it attainable for even the most time-starved gal.
YES, committing to a detox program requires effort…but you’ve already proven that you’re willing to put in effort (you’ve stayed with me this far) –you just need the reassurance of knowing that every bit of energy you put into your commitment to detoxing will actually bring you results.
Myth # 3: After detoxing I’ll easily slip back to my former unhealthy eating habits.
Not necessarily. Detoxing actually has a double purpose. Yes, it’s primarily designed for cleansing and riding your system of toxins, but at the same time it’s also working on re-booting and even re-wiring your system, so you actually start craving all the good stuff, while you organically and effortlessly start moving away from the no no’s, you know…those low energy foods that leave you feeling like you’ve been run over by a train.
I’ve been regularly detoxing for over 5 years, and I now rarely have unhealthy cravings because I’ve actually wired my system up for success, meaning that now I even find my mouth salivating when I’m preparing salads, smoothies or other delicious whole food dishes because my body already has the certainty that it thrives when fueled with such nutritious foods. And the icing on the cake is that on the contrary, when I’m exposed tho the no no’s, I don’t even turn to look at ‘em because my body just doesn't have them in its radar any more. Kind’a cool, huh?
Myth #4: You don’t need to do a cleanse…your body already cleanses itself
Ask most mainstream medical doctors and they’ll tell you cleansing is not necessary because your body already “cleanses itself.”
And you know what? They’re half-right.
Your body does have built-in detoxification organs and pathways, such as your liver, lungs, lymphatic system, kidneys, colon, and gall bladder, that are designed to excrete toxins.
However, we are exposed to more toxins today than ever before.
According to the Environmental Working Group there are over 7 million recognized chemicals in existence with very few tested for safety, not to mention modern changes in our food supply, water, medications, stress, etc.
So yes, your body is engineered to cleanse itself…but your organs are multifunctional and were never designed to handle this many toxins on a daily basis and keep up with their other jobs like conjugating hormones, making blood, producing enzymes, digesting food, etc.
That’s why cleansing the right way, by optimizing your nutrition, can be a life-saver.
You see, cleansing is not about “cleaning” your body, but rather adding back enough nutrients to power the biochemical pathways that convert toxins and hormones to a water-soluble form, that can then be excreted from your bowels or kidneys.
Therefore, choosing a detox program that deeply re-nourishes your body with whole food nutrition will be a lot more effective than just taking an herbal cleansing supplement or doing a water fast.
I hope you've found all this info helpful so you can make more informed decisions when it comes to fasting. Please leave your comments bellow, I'd love to get your input on this topic that I'm so passionate about.
To your vibrant health,
