.On my Holistic Health journey I was recently fortunate to be introduced to Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) Essential Oils via a very dear friend who has been using them in her Yoga & Ayurveda Practices...
My knowledge about Essential Oils (EOs) was very basic. I just remember shopping around Health Foods stores comparing prices and labels that read “100% pure. Do not ingest”, which sounded a bit suspicious to my Taurean mind. If it’s 100% pure and I can’t ingest it, why would I want to put it on my skin, the largest organ in my body? I left it at that, and didn’t give EOs much thought until years later when, in Tulum, my dear Yogui friend Karuna invited me to an Essential Oil Education Class in which she demonstrated the purity and potency of doTerra’s CPTG EOs.
These CPTG EOs were definitely very different to the quote on quote “100% pure” EOs I had bought off the shelves at Health Food Stores; a world apart from the oils I had inhaled and felt on my skin on various Aromatherapy sessions; and they were the very first ones I had ever felt safe enough to ingest.Yep, you know us Health Coaches. We can be obsessive compulsive when it comes to what we put into our bodies…LOL :)
Ignorance is bliss. Knowledge is power. I was instantly hooked to the benefits of using doTerra CPTG Essential Oils topically, internally, and aromatically. Truth be told I became what my girlfriends call a “difusor junkie”, as every time they came over I’d be blissing out with my nose buried in my difusor inhaling all kinds of heavenly aromas.
I was fascinated to learn in the 6 week Essential Oil Internship I signed up to via doTerra that “Essential oils are the highly concentrated, volatile liquids that are distilled from plants (including their respective parts such as seeds, bark, leaves, stems, roots, flowers, fruit, etc.). EOs are considered to be an important part of the plant's metabolism & in some cases they seem to be a part of the plant's immune system. One of the factors that determine the purity and therapeutic value of an oil is its chemical constituents. The concentration of the oil ranges depending on the plant itself, the time of day and year. The constituents can be affected by a vast number of variables including: the part(s) of the plant from which the oil was produced, soil condition, fertilizer (organic or chemical), geographical region, climate, altitude, harvest season and methods, and distillation process”.
Being a Vegan Chef I decided to incorporate CPTG EOs in my culinary series “Viva la Cocina Viva”, infusing my favourite organic, local & vegan dishes with the therapeutic goodness of these treasures from the earth. And that is when I was fully on-board the CPTG Essential Oil train, as I discovered a unique way in which I could continue creating delicious and nutritious recipes with a new and unique therapeutical twist, which I now share with clients who follow my 6 month Health Coaching Program.
As I continued to gain more in depth information in the internship I learned 3 ways in which can EOs can be used to enjoy all their therapeutical properties. “Topically: When EOs are applied to the surface of the body, either via Massage, Baths, Compresses, Creams or Lotions; they will have an effect locally and systemically. The Systemic effect occurs when EOs are absorbed through the skin into the Lymphatic Circulation, and they are then dumped from the Lymphatic circulation into the blood stream. Once the oils are circulating in the blood, they are carried to their target organ/s, where they exert a therapeutic effect on the specific tissues. Internally- If EOs are taken orally; their absorption through the Mucosa of the stomach and into the blood is very rapid. Very few EOs are actually digested, which is fortunate as their Therapeutic principles may well be altered if this were the case. Aromatically- When EOs are inhaled; the oils will be absorbed across the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and lungs into the blood stream, where once again, they can travel around the body very rapidly”.
Out of all the data I compiled from the Internship, what really stuck me was to learn that, according to Clinical research, “Essential Oils have the highest frequency of any natural substance known to man, creating an environment in which disease, bacteria, virus, fungus, etc., cannot survive. Essential Oils are known to kill pathogens, increase white blood cell activity and enhance the cells tolerance to assaults”.
Now those are some powerful medicinal properties right there…That said, I am off to the kitchen to make a new batch of raw organic cacao bliss balls which I’ll be infusing with a secret blend of doTerra’s CPTG EOs.
